Methodology

Understand traffic estimates, monthly changes and missing observations.

Updated monthly. Research that goes deeper.

Data is updated every month, with more in-depth analysis of product trends, industry comparisons and growth changes.

Coverage & updates

We compile monthly referral traffic to Stripe Checkout across thousands of product domains. Historical data reveals changes over time; it is not a real-time traffic feed.

Domains are research subjects, not necessarily separate companies. Root domains and subdomains remain separate to avoid combining overlapping traffic.

How metrics are calculated

Referral visits = total monthly referral visits × the domain’s share for that month. This consistent estimate is not a transaction count or revenue.

Monthly change is this month minus last month; growth is that change divided by last month. Calculations retain full precision. Display values are rounded to one decimal for k and two decimals for M.

Missing data & registration dates

Missing observations stay blank, without zero-filling or interpolation. Growth is unavailable when the previous month is missing or zero; charts leave gaps for missing months.

Registration dates come from public RDAP / WHOIS records. Subdomains use root-domain dates; unknown or inconsistent dates are excluded from age filters. Registration is not a product launch date.

Research limitations

Third-party traffic estimates can be affected by sample coverage, models and payment paths. Product descriptions use public website information. Similar products are not necessarily substitutes, and traffic growth does not establish revenue growth.
